Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time

God, who calls us to discipleship, we pray for the Church as we celebrate the feast
of Saint Josephine Bakhita this week. May her life of faith and forgiveness inspire
us to be more faithful witnesses to Jesus.

As we celebrate Black History Month we pray for black colleges and universities,
their students, faculties, and staff. May they be free from threats of assault and
experience God’s healing grace. May we be strengthened in our resolve to end

We pray for peace in the Ukraine. May the conflict between world powers be
resolved through diplomacy rather than war.

We pray for those who are discerning your call to discipleship. May they know
there are many paths to service, whether founding an organization, serving in a
soup kitchen, or listening to one in need. You work through all.

We pray that your light will shine in our darkness. May it bring hope to the dying,
peace to those who are mourning, and joy to those who have died.
